Maxine Gross

Maxine M. Gross, 98, of Lead, South Dakota, passed away March 31, 2017 at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Cremation has taken place, and inurnment will be at a later date.

Maxine was born October 6, 1918 in Moville, the daughter of Henry and Louise (Hopp) Pries.  She grew up in the Moville area and graduated from Moville High School.

She married Wayne Van Norman in 1936, and the marriage was dissolved in 1943.

In 1946, she married Alfred Cornils.  She was widowed in 1969.

In 1972, she married Donald Gross.  She and Don spent their retirement in Arizona.  They moved to Lead, South Dakota to be near their son Gary.  Don passed away in 2006.

Maxine moved to Sturgis Senior Care in 2014.

She is survived by two sons: Gary Van Norman (Sharon) of Lead, South Dakota and Marc Cornils (Lee) of San Francisco, California; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Caroline Grothaus; a son, Danny Van Norman; and a granddaughter.
