Eleanore Jessen
Eleanore Jessen, 82, of Kingsley, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, where the Rev. Robert Blair officiated. Online condolences may be sent to www.rohdefh.com.
Eleanore Jessen was born on June 3, 1934 in Pierson, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph H. and Marjorie E. (Williams) DeLambert. She graduated from Pierson High School in 1951.
In 1952, she and Fredrick Carl Jessen were united in marriage. They made their home in Pierson, where they raised their family.
Eleanore worked as an administrative assistant at the Vannorsdal and Harvey Insurance until her retirement.
Her husband, Fredrick, passed away in 1975. After his passing, Eleanore moved to Kingsley. She was member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Kingsley.
Survivors include her daughters, Roxanne Jessen of Omaha and Brenda Herthel of Kingsley; grandchildren Angela (Han) Huang, Bill (Alexis) Plendl, Nicholas Plendl, Meghan Plendl, Josh Bumsted, Amanda Harwood and Somer (Nathan) Bizzle; great-grandchildren Frankie Harwood; Joseph and Landon Olney; Ryder Henning; Gavin and Aubrey Rose Bumsted; Sarah, Samuel and Zander Huang; Trinity and Liam Plendl; and Vincent Jentree; and two sisters-in-law, Wilma Reinking of Kingsley and Hattie Sabin of Manchester, Iowa.
Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fredrick; a son, Jim; her parents-in-law; two sisters, Phyllis Harm and her husband, Kenny, and Audrey DeLambert; a nephew, Nicholas Harm; and a stepmother, Gertrude DeLambert.
