Elizabeth  “Beth” M. Cunningham, 52, of Anthon, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her sister’s home of Anthon.

A funeral mass was held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Anthon with the Fr. Terry A. Roder officiating.  Burial was at the Mount Saint Joseph’s Cemetery of Anthon.  The Nicklas D. Elizabeth Mary Cunningham was born November 25, 1963 to Charles and Edna (Petersen) in Battle Creek, Iowa.  Beth was raised with her five siblings in Anthon, Iowa.  She was baptized, received her first communion, and was confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Anthon.

As a child, she was involved in an automobile accident in which she suffered a traumatic brain injury.  She graduated from Anthon- Oto High School with the class of 1983.

One of Beth’s greatest joys was becoming a mother to her daughter Lisa, as well as a grandmother and a loving aunt to her siblings’ children. She was also a great caregiver to her parents.

She enjoyed volunteering and helping at Bingo. She also supported and helped her neighbors and community members in need.  She volunteered for events with Missing and Exploited Children.

In her final days, she was able to complete and publish her autobiography.  She was a giving person even until her final day, when she became an organ donor.

She loved to play cards and Bingo and attend concerts.  She also enjoyed trips to the casino.  She thoroughly enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Beth is survived by her daughter Lisa d’Auguste (Jim) of Dakota Dunes, SD; her mother, Edna Cunningham of Anthon, IA; her grandchildren: Charlie, Mitchell, Aiden, Ella and Paige; her sisters, Ruth Moody of Moville, IA; Kathy (Chris) Jacobsen of Anthon, IA; Loann Letterly of Mapleton, IA; and Lorna Jepsen (Jeremy Lukins) of Holstein, IA; her brother, Shon Cunningham of Anthon, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; several close friends; and her beloved dogs: Lucy, Sophia, Sassy and Lady.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles “Frank” Cunningham; her paternal grandparents, James and Mary Cunningham; her maternal grandparents Carl and Ruth Petersen; her brothers-in-law, Jay Moody and Robert Letterly; and several aunts, uncles and other family members.
