Janet Grieve
Janet Rae Grieve, 83, of Correctionville, IA formally of Sioux City passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Correctionville Specialty Care.
A Memorial Service was held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Mike Inman officiating. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Jan was born August 10, 1933 in Greenville, IA the daughter of Guy and Dorothy Mills. She graduated from Sioux Rapids High School in 1951 and attended St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA, graduating in 1955 with a degree in Nursing. Jan also attended Westmar College in Le Mars, IA and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980.
Jan grew up in Sioux Rapids, IA and upon graduation moved to Sioux City in 1951 for nursing school where she lived until 2011 when she moved to Correctionville, Iowa. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for 15 years and then as a Nursing Instructor at Western Iowa Tech for 25 years. Jan was a member of the National Education Association and the Iowa State Education Association. She was also a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club in Sioux City.
Jan dedicated her life to Nursing. She also loved to read and write poetry. She so enjoyed cooking, especially canning corn with her sisters and all the kids. She loved fishing and all the family get- togethers. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her very special family at the Correctionville Specialty Care Center.
Jan is survived by her three daughters: Roxanne Olsen and her husband Jerry of Spanish Fort, AL, Julie Dohrmann and her husband Jay of Davenport, IA and Lori Grieve and special friend Allen of Sioux City, IA; four grandchildren: Jessica Olsen of Chicago, IL, Sara Dohrmann of Davenport, IA, Michael Dohrmann of Davenport, IA and Nicholas Seivert of Portland, OR; and a sister Judy Phillips and husband Jack of Linn Grove, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents Guy and Dorothy Mills, her sister Gloria Seaman, and her brother Doug Mills. Memorials may be directed towards the family in care of the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., Sioux City, IA 51106.
