Gary Pfeiffer
Gary Carl Pfeiffer, 75, of Harlingen, TX, passed away on November 6, 2016, after battling complications from diabetes.
A Christian memorial service will be held for Gary on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor David Squire of Eastgate Community Church in Harlingen, TX will officiate.
Gary was born November 30, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois to Carl and Alma “Billie” Pfeiffer. Gary was raised on a farm in Illinois and attended Western Illinois University. He met Trudy Ann Lund while in college, and the two were married August 12, 1962.
After college, Gary held several jobs as a gas station attendant, a real estate salesman, and a bank loan officer. He returned to his love of farming and farmed outside of Moville, Iowa from 1976 to 2002.
He stayed active after retirement by playing golf and running Memory Lane Antiques. He had great passions for basketball (at all levels) and sporting events. He was active in car clubs, showing his 1957 Chevy.
Gary demonstrated his strong Christian faith through his generous support of his church, family, and local community organizations.
Gary and Trudy relocated to the Eastgate Community in Harlingen, Texas in 2011. They enjoyed playing cards with friends from Canada to Mexico and from east coast to west coast.
Gary is survived by his wife Trudy and three children (and their spouses): son Eric (Barbara) of Wadsworth, OH and their children Claire (11) and Lydia (7); daughter Karla, who is currently serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, stationed at Rock Island Arsenal, IL; son Brent (Michelle) of Bennington, NE and their children Adam (13) and Rachel (9); a brother-in-law, Dale Moehring; and two nieces, Monica Moehring and Nicole Brummett (Klynt) and their children Konnor (7) and Kamryn (5).
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janet Moehring.
