Janice Cooke

Janice Irene (Rossow) Cooke, formerly of Cushing, passed away in Marina, California from cancer.

Burial of the ashes of Janice and William will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Midway, Iowa, at a later date.

Janice and her twin sister, Joyce, were born in Battle Creek, Iowa on May 6, 1938. Her parents were Christian F.W. and Bertha (Jansen) Rossow. The family lived on a farm south of Cushing until 1950, then moved to Correctionville, Iowa.

After graduation, Bertha and the twins moved to Sunnyvale, California. Janice met and married William B. Cooke and raised their family in Sunnyvale. After working for Mullen Equipment Company, she moved to Marina, California. She loved the Monterey Bay area, and she lived there 23 years.

She was actively involved in researching the Rossow family history in the U.S. and Germany, and enjoyed quilting with many friends.

She is survived by children: William B. Cooke Jr., Wendy (Keith) Lanteigne, Michael (Yvette) Cooke, and Charles Cooke; her grandchildren: Paige and Sam Lanteigne, Kathryn and Abigail Cooke, and Natalie Cooke; her twin sister, Joyce (Gerald) Mullen; a brother, Clarence Rossow; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Rossow.

She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, William B. Cooke Sr.; a sister-in-law, Laurencia Rossow; a brother, Vernon Rossow; a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Donald Peters; and a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Dina Rossow.
