Ruth was born on April 13, 1932 in Mapleton, the daughter of Joseph and Geneva (Germsheid) Koenigs. She graduated in 1950 from the Mapleton High School. On February 14, 1952 Ruth was united in marriage to Kenneth Oregon.

Ruth was a homemaker who also worked for various Mapleton businesses. Later she operated out of her home a day care for area children.

Ruth enjoyed a life-long love of music that she passed on to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She dreamt of pursuing a career in vocal music — a career she passed up after her father, Joseph Koenigs, suffered a stroke.

She found endless joy in picking up her vocal studies in her retirement at Grace University, which provided her opportunities for study and performance that she enjoyed beyond measure.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Karen (Greg) Trucke of Bronson two sons; Phillip (Kira) Oregon of Oto, Patrick Oregon of Salix, grandchildren; Shawn (Jill) Trucke, Wendy Trucke, Daniel Trucke, Jon Oregon, Jessica (Andrew) Huggenberger, Charles Oregon, Elijah Oregon, McKenzie Oregon; her great-grandchildren Brandy Trucke, Alexa Trucke, Sydney Trucke, Andrew Trucke, Alexander Oregon, Mason Huggenberger and Jaden Huggenberger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth in 2003, her brother Joseph W. Koenigs, and her sister Lorraine Heideman.
