Veronica Koebel

Veronica J. Koebel, age 91, of Moville, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at her home in Moville.

A funeral mass was held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church of Moville with the Rev. Msgr. R. Mark Duchaine officiating.  Burial was at the Arlington Cemetery of Moville.

Veronica J. Koebel was born December 1, 1925 in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Rosa (Zubradt) and Daniel Kennedy.  She graduated from Storm Lake St. Mary High School.

After high school, she worked as a roller skating carhop.  Later in her life, she worked as a bookkeeper at Fullerton Lumber.  Her main occupation was that of homemaker.

She was united in marriage to Leo J. Koebel on August 6, 1945 in Storm Lake, Iowa.  They were blessed with nine children.  They raised their family in Fonda, Iowa; Tyndall, South Dakota; and Moville, Iowa, where Veronica has lived the last 51 years.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Moville, where she was a volunteer for the Guild and the PieceMakers.  She was supportive of her children’s many activities and volunteered for The Comm-unity Basket.

She enjoyed tending to her houseplants, canning, quilting, camping and watching Danny O’Donnell videos and listening to his music.  She loved family time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons: Dan (Sharon) Koebel of Redmond, WA; Dave (Judi) Koebel of Omaha, NE; and John (Kathy) Koebel of Sioux City, IA; five daughters: Rosemary (Ray) Klemmensen of Cedar Falls, IA; Kathy Myres of Moville, IA; Linda (Mark) Burke of Norwalk, IA; Paula (Bryan) Jensen of Elgin, NE; and Diane (Terry) Pilar of Moville, IA; 23 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and brother, Joe (Elaine) Kennedy of Omaha, NE.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo in 1995; brothers Pat Kennedy and John Kennedy; sisters Marie Kennedy and Frances Vernia; a daughter, Elaine Koebel; a granddaughter, Theresa Myres; a grandson, Nicholas Pilar; and a daughter-in-law, Trudi Koebel.
