River Valley Board of Education
August 13, 2018 — Correctionville, Iowa
The River Valley Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School board room in Correctionville, Iowa. Members present were Gaylen Goettsch, Nicole Deeds, Scott Knaack, Kristi Krager and Deb Stevenson.
Motion by Stevenson, second by Knaack to approve consent agenda consisting of minutes of the July 9, 2018 regular meeting, business managers financial statements and audit approval of claims. Carried 5-0
Mr. Bisenius and Mrs. Holtz gave their administrative reports.
Motion by Stevenson, second by Deed to accept the resignation of Casandra Guttau as a result of an ongoing workmen’s compensation claim and mediation agreement. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Knaack, second by Krager to approve contract for Shelby York as an elementary aide at $8.00 per hour. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Stevenson, second by Deeds to approve contract for Mary Hoogland as an elementary aide at $8.00 per hour. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Krager,second by Knaack to approve contract for DeeDee Crummer as high school aide at $10.50 per hour. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Stevenson, second by Deeds to approve contract for Bethany Schleef as high school aide at $8.00 per hour. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Knaack, second by Stevenson to approve contract for Todd Knutson as Special Ed. support at $110.00 per day. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Deeds, second by Krager to approve adjusting contract for Frankie Deeds to $8.20 per hour. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Stevenson, second by Knaack to approve propane bid from Johnson Propane at $.98 per gallon. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Deeds, second by Krager to approve Food Service Record Maintenance for Doug Eades. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Stevenson, second by Knaack to approve School Handbook for FY19. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Stevenson, second by Deeds to waive first reading of Board Policy Changes (400 series) and approve the second reading. Policies will mirror the licensed employees, allowing superintendent to set leaves for the staff for the year and adjust handbook accordingly. Carried 5-0.
Superintendent Slater gave his report. School Advisory Committee meeting will be held August 27, 2018 at 5:30 and the Board Retreat will follow at 7:00 p.m.
