Carlene Ewoldt-Modlin
Carlene (Arends) Ewoldt-Modlin, left us for her heavenly home on February 18, 2019. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God sustained her in her final moments and ultimately gave her the peace that passes all understanding.
A celebration of life will be held at Salem Lutheran Church (1753 G Avenue, Dakota City, NE) on April 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., with fellowship and some of Carlene’s favorite refreshments to follow the event.
Carlene was born to the late Kenneth and Darlene Arends in Iowa City, Iowa on April 22, 1946. She graduated from Milford High School in Milford, Iowa in 1964. Then she attended The Stewart School of Hairstyling, graduating in 1966.
While attending Stewart’s, Carlene met Dave Ewoldt and was married in 1966. To that union came two wonderful children: a daughter, Kori, and a son, Brent.
In 2005 Carlene was married to Kenneth Modlin. She enjoyed 13 years of traveling, camping and, ultimately retiring to their home in Harlingen, Texas, until the day of her passing.
Carlene spent her lifetime helping others, from a career school bus driver and teacher’s aid for the South Sioux City, Nebraska school system, to Park Administration for the Scenic Park Campground.
Carlene loved to sing, dance and spend countless hours visiting with family and friends. Her infectious laugh, bright smile and loving spirit will be dearly missed. We all celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
We know that heaven rejoiced as she entered the gates.
Carlene is survived by her children, Kori (Mark) Cooper and Brent (Wendy) Ewoldt; her husband Kenny and his three children; Mark (Shannon), Melinda (Greg) and Wendy (Matt); sisters Cindy, Christy and Carmen; and the pride and joy of her life, her 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
