The Pierson City Council met in regular session on Wednesday June 10th at 7PM.  Mayor Struve called the meeting to order at 7PM.  All council were in attendance. The consent agenda was approved upon a motion by Sistrunk, seconded by Bubke.  Sistrunk, Bubke, Krier and Saxen voted aye, McQueen voted nay; motion carried.  Items on the consent agenda included minutes from the May meeting and a May special, May financials, claims and disbursements thru June 10th, 3 building permits and 1 animal permit.

Discussion was held on the 4th St project.  Motion by Sistrunk to Bid the Front Street part of the project now and rebid the 4th St part in the fall for Spring construction, seconded by McQueen.

Motion by Bubke, seconded by McQueen to approve
RESOLUTION 2020-07
A RESOLUTION ORDERING CONSTRUCTION OF 2020 SANITARY SEWER AND STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, FIXING A DATE FOR HEARING THEREON AND FOR TAKING OF BIDS.  SETTING THE PUBLIC HEARING AND BID OPENING FOR JULY 8TH WITH BIDS DUE AT 4:30 AND OPENING THEM AT 7PM
All voted aye. Motion carried.

The second reading of Ordinance 171 was brought by Sistrunk, seconded by Krier; all voted aye, motion carried.
RESOLUTION 2020-8
A RESOLUTION TO WAIVE THE 3RD READING OF AN ORDINANCE BEFORE ITS FINAL PASSAGE
was approved on a motion by McQueen, seconded by Sistrunk, all voted aye; motion approved.
Motion by Saxen seconded by Bubke to adopt in final form upon publication ORDINANCE 169, all voted aye; motion carried.

RESOLUTION 2020-09
A RESOLUTION SETTING THE COMPENSATION FOR THE EMPLOYEES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 20-21
was approved upon a motion by Bubke, seconded by Saxen, all voted aye; motion carried.

Regarding late fees and shut offs that had been waived due to the Covid-19 starting in June late fees and shut offs will resume as per city code. Clerk will get some quotes for projects for next year.  Council will check on trees around street lights. Library wi-fi was discussed council would like it on a timer to shut off at 9PM.  A request to be skipped for mosquito spraying was discussed, sprayer was contacted and will do that.

Quotes on an Automatic Door were reviewed.  Council choose to table for now.

Council moved into close session per Iowa Code 21.5 (1)(c)  A governmental body may hold a closed session  to discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position of the governmental body in that litigation.  Motion by Sistrunk to end close session, seconded by McQueen; all voted aye; motion carried.

Motion by Sistrunk, seconded by Bubke to adjourn the meeting, all voted aye.
