Laura Hinkhouse

Laura L. Hinkhouse, 96, of Correction-ville, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the Correction-ville Specialty Care of Correctionville, Iowa.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date at the Fairfield Cemetery of Rock Branch, Iowa. The Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Anthon, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent online to www.armstrongfuneral.com.

Laura Leona Hinkhouse, the daughter of Robert and Martha (Meister) Eppling, was born on May 29, 1924 in Kingsley, Iowa.

Laura grew up in the Kingsley area and attended Union Consolidated School.

On September 8, 1946, Laura was united in marriage to Charlie “Donald” Hinkhouse in Kingsley. They were lifelong farmers in the Correctionville area.

Laura enjoyed embroidery, dancing, playing cards, and socializing with family and friends. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Roger Hinkhouse of Correctionville, IA; daughter Lavonne Mahin of Grundy Center, IA; Harold Hinkhouse of Des Moines, IA and Charlene (Paul) Hollesen of Hull, IA. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Eppling of LeMars, IA; sister-in-law Mary Eppling of Chatfield, MN; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Martha Eppling; her husband Charlie “Donald” Hinkhouse; sister Shirley Eppling; brother Ervin Eppling; and sister-in-law Leora Eppling.
