The Lawton-Bronson Community Schools District will prepare all students to contribute productively to the global world of work and community.

F. Approval of Agenda – Additions or deletions may be requested by Board members, visitors, or Administrators. An agenda which has been posted more than twenty-four hours prior to a scheduled meeting may be amended to include additional matters only if good cause exists requiring expeditious discussions or action on such matters.

Woolridge moved to approve certified budget. Amick seconded. All in favor.

I. Communications
1. Board member update
May is Board Appreciation Month. Shook presented board with certificates from Iowa Association of School Boards.

J. Reports
1. Superintendent/Elementary Principal’s Report
COVID numbers continue to be low
ISASP testing will be next week for grades 3-11 in reading, math and writing
ESSER III funds have been announced. LB will receive $308,754. 20% must be spent on addressing learning that was lost due to the pandemic. The other 80% must be spent on COVID related items that will help with the present pandemic and prepare us for the future.
Field trips will be allowed to go on field trip as long as they are visiting places that are not high exposure areas.
Fine Arts Night will be May 13 and immediate households of students in grade K-3 will be able to come to the school from 5:30-6:30 with grades 4-6 being starting at 6:45.
Elementary Track and Field Day will be May 21. The public will not be invited to attend and the event will be scaled down.
Last student day will be May 28. Teachers will have full PD days June 1 and 2. They will be able to log their hours before and after school prior to June 1 to make up another day. They will also be required to work a flex day over the summer.
Mrs. Peters’ 1st grade class and FFA students have volunteered to work on the Elementary Outdoor Classroom.

2. Secondary Principal’s Report
Kate OTool, Lucas Geisinger and Kendra Horsley were recognized for being All State speech participants.
Archery will compete at Nationals after winning the 2021 State Archery tournament.
There was a floor hockey tournament for Fun Friday this month.
Fine Arts Night will be May 10
Class Night May 12 at 6:30 in the Lawton gym
Graduation is May 16 at 2:00 in the Lawton gym
L-B Foundation basket auction is April 17 at 7:00 at Lofted View

1. Approve contract for accounts manager
Sappingfield moved to approve contract for Kristi VerSteeg. Woolridge seconded. All in favor.

2. Approve contract for high school principal
Woolridge moved to approve the contract for Brandi Jessen. Sappingfield seconded. All in favor.

3. Approve contract for superintendent/elementary principal
Amick moved to approve contract for Chad Shook. Woolridge seconded. All in favor.

4. Approve contract for curriculum director
Woolridge moved to approve contract for Suzanne Bartels. Sappingfield seconded. All in favor.

5. Approve retirement of para and bus driver
Sappingfield moved to approve retirement of Jean Vondrak. Amick seconded. All in favor.

6. Approve assistant high school track coach
Reinke moved to approve Erin Benson as track coach. Sappingfield seconded. All in favor.

7. Approve volunteer assistant high school track coach
Sappingfield moved to approve Lilly Teager. Woolridge seconded. All in favor.

M. New Business
1. Approve advanced debt levy
Woolridge moved to approve advanced debt levy of $495,000. Amick seconded. All in favor

2. Approve budget guarantee for 2021-2022 school year
Amick moved to approve budget guarantee. Reinke seconded. All in favor.

3. Approve sharing agreement for curriculum director
Woolridge moved to approve the sharing agreement. Amick seconded. All in favor.

4. Approve WIT contract for 2021-2022 school year
Sappingfield moved to approve WIT contract. Woolridge seconded. All in favor.

5. Approve milk bid for 2021-2022 school year
Reinke moved to approve milk bid from Kemps. Woolridge seconded. All in favor.

6. Approve AEA purchasing contract for 2021-2022 school year
Amick moved to approve AEA purchasing contract. Woolridge seconded. All in favor

7. Approve Timberline contract for 2021-2022 school year
Reinke moved to approve Timberline contract. Sappingfield seconded. All in favor.

8. First reading to amend board policy regarding bus driver physical reimbursement
Reinke moved to adjourn. Sappingfield seconded. All in favor.
