Jerry D. Boggs, 56, of Anthon passed Monday, July 12, 2021, at his residence in Anthon.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19 at the Anthon United Methodist Church in Anthon, with Pastor Shirley Nelson officiating. Burial was be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Anthon. Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18 with the family present during this time at the Anthon United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be sent to rohdefh.com.
Jerry was born Dec. 4, 1964, the son of Wilbur and JoAnn (Collins) Boggs. He grew up in Kingsley graduating from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1984. Over the years Jerry worked for many area farmers, he also was employed with Knoepfler Chevrolet, and Larry Steffen Tractor Repair. He was currently employed with the Woodbury County Secondary Roads Department for the past 14 years.
In 1988 Jerry met and married the love of his life, Shelley; to this union three loving children were born, Nicholas, Nathan and Alyssa. Jerry enjoyed many things in his free time. Riding motorcycles which included many trips to the Black Hills with Shelley and guy trips to Sturgis.
Jerry always looked forward to spending time with his children and four grandchildren. He was honored to be “PaPa” to many of Shelley’s daycare kids over the years. He also enjoyed working in his shop repairing anything and everything. He also was enthusiastic about watching his son, Nate, racing in motocross. Jerry took great pride in his community of Anthon and served on the Anthon City Council, Anthon Community Club president, Anthon Community Center board and various church boards. He took great pride in being able to help plan the Anthon 125th celebration and lining up the Annual Anthon Kids Day Parade every summer.
He is survived by his best friend/wife, Shelley of 33 years; children, Nick and his daughter Bristol, Nate and his wife Rachel and their three children, Braxton, Teagan and Bentley, and Alyssa and her husband Seth Goslar; sister, Terri Wellenstien and family; brothers, Gary and Kitty Boggs and family, and Barry and Judy Boggs and family; father-in-law, Dale Hunwardsen; and brothers-in-law, Dave (Pam) Hunwardsen, Kevin Hunwardsen, and Mike Hunwardsen.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and JoAnn Boggs; and his mother-in-law, Rosalie Hunwardsen.
