1. Superintendent/Elementary Principal’s Report
Elementary Fine Arts Night was held Tuesday night. There was a multitude of student artwork on display. We have such talented students here at LB. A huge thank you to Mr. Prior and Mrs. Blevins for their hard work!
Teacher and Staff Appreciation week was also this week. There was food, treats, and extra appreciation in the building all week.
We had four snow days this year. We made up one of those days. We are not going to have to make up any additional days because the school year is reported in hours and we will have enough. Student’s last day will remain unchanged on May 25th.
It is no secret that violence has plagued many of our schools throughout the country. Student safety always has been and always will be our number one priority. Recently, Governor Reynolds and the legislature have taken steps to ensure that Iowa’s schools are amount the safest in the nation. Earlier this year Homeland Security conducted a vulnerability assessment of both campuses and we will be working over the summer to address the issues they found. Nothing alarming was noted just going to do some smaller things here and there to increase security.
2. Secondary Principal’s Report
The top shooters for archery went to complete last week in Sandy, Utah for the National Archery Competition. The 3D team placed 15th in the nation!
Quiz Bowel team also made a trip to the National Competition. It was a great learning experience for all of the students.
It has been a cold and windy track season to say the least. That hasn’t stopped our runners though. Our boys and girls have broke records and we sent athletes to Drake. Drake is very hard to qualify for because it puts all classes together. Jolee Mesz went in the 800, Theo Moseman went in the 400, and the boys and girls 4X100 team.
